The Border Corps
I attended a ten-day workshop conducted by Guillermo Gomez-Peńa where I was introduced to performance as contemporary art practice and radical pedagogy in the tradition of Augusto Boal and Paolo Freire. In 2010, I formed the Border Corps, along with a group of Southern California musicians, actors, poets and artists. Our mission was to dramatize the conditions of life lived along the US/Mexico borderlands by means of performance, language and all relevant conventions of visual art. Border Corps created nine unique performances before coming to an end in 2013.
